Isosurface visualization using DSVR post-processor
For scientific visualization the chosen visualization technique strongly depends on the entity of the underlying raw data. For data within a 3-dimensional domain two classes of visualization techniques can be distinguished: volume visualization for scalar data and flow visualization for vector data.
This video shows a visualization approach for time varying scalar fields using DSVR. As visualization technique the generation of isosurfaces is used. The underlying data set represents the relative humidity of an atmosphere simulation. The calculation was done by ECHAM5 for a short time interval to demonstrate the climate model.
This visualization was done by approximating an isosurface for a threshold value of 90%. To avoid stuttering due to long time intervals between the simulated time steps, additional visualization steps using interpolated data have been added. In total 1000 visualization steps have been calculated for 250 model time steps.
