Public Communication, its Agents and Dynamics

Research focuses on public and mediated communication, as well as on discourses within social fields.

Media are distinctive in the agenda setting process (which topic) and in the framing process (how topics are depicted).

We analyze

  • how media construct climate change in different geographical regions, how journalism ‘domesticates’ and downsizes climate change onto the regional or local level (what is the effect of global warming on regional geohazards); and
  • how media connect climate change to the ‘news-to-use’ perspective of the audience.
