The Global Lithological Map v1.0 (GLiM)

The GLiM v1.0 has been developed as tool for global modeling in a detail yet unmatched. The database contains about 1,2 million polygons. The "average" resolution is 1:3 750 000. The map is about 100 times more detailed than previous global lithological maps.

An article presenting the map has been published and a 0.5° raster version of the map is downloadable from PANGEA. For enquiries about the original resolution version, please contact Nils Moosdorf or Jens Hartmann.

We are very interested in any kind of cooperation regarding the geological maps. Contributions of geological maps (preferably already as Shapefiles) are sought for all regions of the world. Possible users of our maps are welcome to contact us for cooperation. Until now, about 30 groups are already working with the GLiM to answer a huge variety of research questions.
