CRG Advancement of Coupled Climate Ocean Ecosystem Models

The CliSAP Research Group for the „Advancement of Coupled Climate Ocean Ecosystem Models“ (ACCOEM) develops and applies numerical models for planktonic ecosystems. We study the effects of climate change on plankton dynamics, i.e. shifts in species composition, biomass and phenological patterns, as well as the consequences of phytoplankton growth and biomass on the environment. The latter encompass changes in the heat balance of the surface ocean and production of toxic and climate relevant substances (e.g. organic halogens).
