CliSAP successfully finished in 2018. Climate research continues in the Cluster of Excellence "CLICCS".

Participating Institutions

With almost 42,000 enrolled students, Universität Hamburg is one of Germany’s major universities. Eighteen University institutes contribute to the Cluster of Excellence CliSAP.

The Hamburg-based Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M) has earned great international renown since its foundation in 1975. A large number of its eminent scientists are conducting research for CliSAP.

The Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (Centre for Materials and Coastal Research, HZG) focuses on climate change indicators in the German Baltic and North Seas. With support from CliSAP, the HZG-affiliated North German Climate Office (Norddeutsches Klimabüro) processes raw data into target-group oriented information, hence offering a broad range of services related to climate issues.

Efficient specialist staff, high-performance computers, and capacious data storage facilities at the German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ) enable CliSAP’s researchers to simulate realistic models of future climate and environmental challenges.
