Our group's participation in the Expedition LENA 2014 kicked off this year in late April. Our research group is returning to Siberia’s Lena River Delta in a long-term investigation of the permafrost’s response to global change. We investigate the greenhouse gas fluxes of CO2, CH4, and N2O as well as the site hydrology. One of this year’s focus areas is to study methane fluxes from the annual floodplain in this delta region. Participants in this year’s expedition include Christian Wille, Norman Roessger, Benjamin Runkle, Lars Kutzbach, and Peter Schreiber. We also work in close collaboration with Alexander Sabrekov from Moscow State University. The expedition is organized by AWI-Potsdam and the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute of St. Petersburg.
CliSAP successfully finished in 2018. Climate research continues in the Cluster of Excellence "CLICCS".
