This year’s SIAM Conference on Mathematical and Computational Issues in Geosciences (SIAM GS17) took place in Erlangen and was co-organized by Jörn Behrens. Two further group members, Anja Jeschke and Stefan Vater, presented their work on non-hydrostatic extensions of shallow water discontinuous Galerkin methods and a coupled simulation of the 2004 Andaman-Sumatra Earthquake-Tsunami, respectively. It was a very successful conference with almost 500 participants from all continents.
