Junior Research: New Doctoral Candidates at CliSAP’s Graduate School

Climate research at CliSAP is interdisciplinary, including the education of junior researchers. This week, seventeen doctoral candidates from eight different academic disciplines have joined the doctoral program at the School of Integrated Climate System Sciences (SICSS).

New at SICSS: 17 doctoral candidates from eight nations.

For science’s sake, these young researchers have left their homes in Uganda, Ghana, Malawi in Africa, Russia, Turkey, Poland, and Great Britain, as well as various German cities, for Hamburg. As specialists in the fields of physical oceanography, geology, or political science, they are united in their search for the causes and ramifications of climate change. In quest of answers, they will not be restricted by their specialist skills and perspectives, but will cooperate in looking beyond. The SICCS’s doctoral program provides them with a solid framework by offering workshops for the exchange of ideas, an interdisciplinary counseling system and a broad range of continuing studies options.

Six new doctoral candidates receive CliSAP funding, while others are funded by external institutions or by Universität Hamburg. Some students are employed by one of the four CliSAP partner institutions. All together, these young researchers will complete the three-year SICSS program.
We wish you every success and the best of luck in your future endeavors!
