Climate adaptation in fragile states – KlimaCampus scientist presents findings from Kenya
11.08.2011In their research work Janpeter Schilling and his colleague Elise Remling show possible ways to reconcile national climate policy and local climate adaptation. It is important that the government assures the pastoralists mobility, particularly during periods of drought. That means that in South Kenya reliable agreements need to be made, which enable the pastoralists and their herds to have access to pasture land inside of national parks. In the Northern part of the country agreements need to be made with the neighboring countries Uganda, Sudan and Ethiopia to protect the transnational movements and to mitigate conflicts in this region.
