"The model is just a tool": Interview with Dr. Eduardo Zorita Interview
10.08.2011Our climate is changing, that much is certain. Greenhouse gases are playing a crucial role in this. The relevance of emissions caused by human activity has been much discussed. A journey back through time can reveal how speedily and thoroughly the climate has changed in the past even without human interference.
Scientists can use computer models to investigate the effects of fluctuating intensity of the sun´s radiation or the differing levels of volcanic ash in the atmosphere. The results can be extrapolated many thousands of years into the past. They make it possible to establish whether the current changes are indeed exceptional.
