Announcing: Making a case for a different climate change policy

Society should be protected from nature– not vice versa. While visiting KlimaCampus on November 11, 2010 the renown sociologist Prof. Nico Stehr will elaborate on this provocative thesis (lecture in German).

During his speech he will illustrate why focusing solely on decarbonization will not lead to a successful climate change policy but that instead a wider array of goals must be taken into consideration.
Nico Stehr is „Karl Mannheim Professor for Cultural Studies" at the Zeppelin University, Friedrichshafen, Germany. His research among other topics centers on globalization, nature, climate and society. In 2009, in collaboration with Prof. Hans von Storch, he published a book titled “Klima, Wetter, Mensch”. Hans von Storch heads the Institute for Coastal Research at the GKSS-Research Centre Geesthacht and is a member of KlimaCampus.
The speech will be held Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 3:15 p.m., Bundesstraße 53, ZMAW building, Hörsaal 22/23.
