About the speaker: Stephen H. Schneider has worked at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) since 1988 and has advised six US Governments. Together with the other authors of the IPCC, he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, as Coordinating Lead Author ("Assessing Key Vulnerabilities and the Risk from Climate Change", WG II, Chapter 19) and contributor to the Fourth Assessment Synthesis Report.
Schneider is founder and editor of the scientific journal "Climatic Change" and advises policy makers and non-profit organizations on aspects of climate policy. His specific topics are strategies for risk management and uncertainties about climate prognoses and climate impacts. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Earth Systems, Civil Engineering, Biological Sciences, the Senior Honors Seminar in Environmental Science, Technology and Policy, and the Emmett Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Environment and Resources.
