The value of future Assessment Reports from the IPCC, and that of the Intergovernmental Panel itself, are currently the subject of heated debates – and not just in the public and political sphere, but also among the scientific community. However, climate researchers’ opinions on the future of the IPCC have yet to be systematically recorded or evaluated.
Research approach

The project combines communication science, sociological and natural sciences perspectives, and aims to collect survey data as the basis for informed discussions on the future of the IPCC. To do so, CliSAP scientists will be asked to provide their opinions on the relevance, political and scientific merit of the IPCC’s work. The project will also examine the role of the IPCC in public discourses.
