Obstacles of Transferring Knowledge into Action in Postnormality
Perceptions about climate change differ amongst various societal fields or different countries, but also within the scientific community. Climate science is a case of science in context, blending various ‘domains of knowledge’ each with specific ‘epistemic cultures’.
Research analyzes polarized epistemic positions within climate science and their media representation. Of particular interest is the analysis of competing knowledge claims in the field of climate dynamics and statistics, in particular scientific and cultural constructions.
We intend to reconstruct
- the formation and epistemic positioning of so-called climate-sceptics,
- their media representation and
- their media appeal, using qualitative and network analysis.
