Obstacles in Society against Proactive Action

Case studies are conducted on the public’s rate of adaptation preparedness and adaptation policies. They specifically focus on the relevance and role of information, intended disinformation, emotional experiences, individual experiences and memories for decision making, and scrutinize how this translates into action.

There is a time mismatch between climate change predictions and decision making processes on the political and on the individuals’ level. Scientific time horizons show systematic differences to the time frames in decision making processes and investment cycles.

There are various understandings and expectations about predictions and scenarios. And how does the construction of future developments feed into economic as well as into political decision making?
