Separation of global and regional climate change signals
Long-term trends of the local climate in urban areas may be regional manifestations of global climate changes. However, changes of the properties of urban areas, such as urban growth may also change the urban climate.
Urban Systems research employs numerical models to attribute urban climate changes to the relevant scale. Using information from urban development model in a high-resolution meso-scale meteorology model allows to analyse impacts of changes of the urban landscape in a high resolution for Hamburg's urban climate over time.
