JPI Oceans: Joint CfP on Microplastics in the Marine Environment
Twelve JPI Oceans member countries as well as Latvia and Brazil launch a call for transnational research projects to study the sources, distribution, and impact of microplastics in the marine environment. Building on the results from the joint transnational call “Ecological aspects of microplastics in the marine environment” and recent scientific findings this joint transnational call intends to increase the knowledge about the relevant sources of microplastics, analytical methods for identifying smaller micro- and nano-)plastics, monitoring their distribution and abundance in marine systems and their effects thereon as well as concepts to reduce inputs of plastic into the marine environment.

BMBF Funds Projects Supporting  Cultural Education in Rural Areas
Funding can be given to projects, which are characterized by a research approach based on educational science and anchored in the discourses of cultural education and which empirically investigate the specific situation in rural areas based on relevant theory formation using quantitative and/ or qualitative social science methods. Interdisciplinary research approaches from disciplines such as social sciences and human geography are particularly welcome.

DFG: RFBR-DFG Cooperation: Possibility for Joint German-Russian Research Projects
These joint proposals have to be based on a close interaction between the German and Russian research teams and should present joint project goals and a joint work plan with balanced contributions from all project partners.

At the DFG the proposals in this call are submitted in the funding scheme “Sachbeihilfe/Research Grants” and will be reviewed in competition with all other proposals in this scheme. All proposals will be reviewed by both organizations separately. The results of the review process will be shared between the agencies. German partners: please register no later than 27 February 2019

BMBF FONA: CLIENT II: International Collaborations for Sustainable Innovation
CLIENT II is a funding call by the BMBF. The objective is to fund research and development cooperation with developing countries. The goal is to find innovative and sustainable solutions for challenges concerning resource efficiency, recycling economy, water management, climate protection and energy efficiency, adaptation to climate change, land use management, sustainable energy systems and natural hazards.

Pre-Announcement: JPI Climate & JPI Oceans Joint Transnational Call on Next Generation Climate Science in Europe for Oceans

This call on next-generation climate science is expected to make available up to 7.6 million EUR by partner organisations from seven countries around Europe and is expected to open in February 2019.

Horizon 2020: Bye-bye, Participant Portal! Hello, Funding & Tenders Portal!
The EU has launched a new funding & tenders portal to allow searching for EU funding and tender opportunities, and managing grants and contracts in one place. For users if the participant portal not much will change (except user interface). The new portal can be accessed with the existing username and password from the participant portal.
