ERC Consolidator Grants

The European Research Council of the European Union supports promising researchers from any discipline who are in the early stages of an independent academic career with consolidator grants. These grants are awarded for researchers proposing a ground-breaking research topic. Applicants shall have completed their PhD no fewer than seven and no more than twelve years ago.

Call for Proposals for Horizon 2020: Societal Challenge 5

The EU Horizon 2020 program has recently opened a new call for proposals within Societal Challenge 5: Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials. This Challenge funds research and innovation with the following specific objectives: to achieve a resource- and water-efficient, climate change resilient economy and society; the protection and sustainable management of natural resources and ecosystems, and a sustainable supply and use of raw materials in order to the meet the needs of a growing global population within the sustainable limits of the planet’s natural resources and ecosystems.

Pre-Announcement of 3rd FACCE SURPLUS Call for Proposals

FACCE-JPI and FACCE SURPLUS pre-announce the upcoming call for research project. The joint programming initiative on agriculture, food security and and climate change (FACCE-JPI) brings together 22 countries committed to building an integrated European Research Area addressing the interconnected challenges of sustainable agriculture, food security and impacts of climate change. In Germany, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) participates in the call.
The call is expected to open on 09 January 2019 and close on 19 March 2019.

Call for Nominations: Volvo Environment Prize

The Volvo Environemtn Prize is awarded for outstanding innovations or scientific discoveries, which in broad terms fall within the environmental field. The Prize is awarded by an independent foundation, instituted in 1988. A Scientific Committee does the initial screening and evaluation of candidates. The International Prize Jury, a group of internationally renowned scientists, makes the final selection of laureate or laureates.

Call for Nominations: Universität Hamburg Equal Opportunity Prize

The Equal Opportunity Prize for outstanding, visible, and sustainable activities promoting gender equality in the areas of gender and diversity will be awarded in 2019 for the fourth time.
Worth €10,000, the prize is presented to individual members, groups of members, or organizational units of the University who have served as role models in dealing constructively with diversity and who have made lasting contributions to strengthening heterogeneity and equality at the University.

Call for Nominations: Klaus-Töpfer-Sustainability-Fellowship

With its Klaus-Töpfer-Fellowship, the IASS wants to honour and support individuals who, like Prof. Töpfer, are committed to sustainable development and build bridges between science, politics and society. We are seeking nominations for people from Germany or abroad who have worked for many years on sustainability issues and have the potential to shape the future. The nominees should bring innovative ideas from their respective fields in science, the arts, civil society, business, politics or other areas of society.

European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Launched

The EOSC will offer 1.7 million European researchers and 70 million professionals in science, technology, the humanities and social sciences a virtual environment with open and seamless services for storage, management, analysis and re-use of research data, across borders and scientific disciplines by federating existing scientific data infrastructures, currently dispersed across disciplines and the EU Member States.
