Visiting Scientist at the KlimaCampus

18.05.2009

Prof. Clifford E. Singer is Professor at the Departments of Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering and of Political Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also a core faculty member and former director of the Program in Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security (ACDIS).

The main purpose of Cliff Singers visit is to promote a study of the problems likely to be posed by increases in the use of nuclear energy as a response to depletion of fossil fuel resources and to overburdening of the atmosphere’s carrying capacity for greenhouse gases. After the visit, the University of Illinois will host a visiting Physik-Diplomarbeit student, Herrmann von Brevern, as one already agreed element to carry on the cooperative work between the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with the KlimaCampus cluster of ecxellence and in particular with the contribution made to that cluster by the Centre for Science and Peace Research (Zentrum für Naturwissenschaft und Friedensforschung, ZNF).
