Visiting CliSAP: Scientists from Wuhan, China

Four colleagues from China are currently guests of Prof. Anita Engels. They are visiting as part of a research cooperation between the universities Wuhan and Hamburg.

The research cooperation addresses the topic “transformation towards low carbon societies.” Within this project, Wuhan, located in the province Hubei in central China and Hamburg are compared considering their efforts to reduce CO2 emissions. The participating scientists work in various research fields:

Prof. Tianbao Qin lectures on environmental, energy and climate law as well as climate policy at Wuhan University. Additionally, he is a legislative expert for China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and an Advisor of the Chinese Delegation at negotiations on climate-change issues. He is spending a month carrying out research at CliSAP.

Prof. Guangbing Li is Vice Secretary-General of the Chinese Association of Environment and Resource Law. He is involved in several research projects, funded for example by the China Social Sciences Foundation and the Asian Development Bank’s technical assistance program. He will be in Hamburg for three months.

PhD candidates Bin Hu and Yinying Qiu are augmenting the CliSAP research team, also for a period of three months. Lawyer Hu is Vice Secretary-General at the Chinese Association of Environment and Resources Law. Qiu has participated in a number of research projects funded by various institutions including the China Natural Sciences Foundation and the China Social Science Foundation.
