No stranger to student advising: Katja Grannis

Since the end of January, Katja Grannis has been responsible for coordinating the Master’s degree program in Integrated Climate System Sciences at the Graduate School SICSS. The 33-year-old, born and raised in Hamburg, had previously studied English Literature, German Literature, and History at the University of Hamburg and the University of Sheffield, Great Britain.

In her work at the SICSS, Katja Grannis can draw on her considerable experience in student advising. Following the completion of her studies, she worked at the University’s “Office of Studies and Career,” where she offered language, literature and media studies students career orientation and support with choosing the right internship. In addition to individual advising, she also organized seminars and workshops.

She also gathered valuable experience with international students in the context of establishing an Erasmus program for Psychology. Most recently, she served at the Student Office for the Business Sciences, where she was responsible for and instrumental in coordinating the Bachelor’s program in Business Administration. What excites her most about her new position at the SICSS is the opportunity to work with and support students from all corners of the globe. Katja Grannis, we’re glad to have you on board!
