Excellence in climate research management – Interview with Dr. Anke Allner

18.01.2012

This month´s "Climate research made in Hamburg" interview is with the CliSAP executive director Anke Allner, who holds a doctorate in meteorology and was appointed head of the excellence cluster in September 2010.

Anke Allner is a proficient multitasker: forging links between groups of scientists, implementing executive plans, managing communication, supporting young scientists and preparing the second phase of the CliSAP project. A wide-ranging list of responsibilities by any standards. Which is precisely what makes management of the CliSAP project so attractive for the experienced science coordinator.
Allner has already demonstrated her considerable organisational skills. Before she took over as CliSAP director, Allner helped set up the School of Engineering and Science at the Jacobs University in Bremen.

Allner was interviewed by Prof. Dr. Mike S. Schäfer, head of the "Media Constructions of Climate Change" working group at the KlimaCampus Hamburg, and Prof. Dr. Hans von Storch, head of the Institute for Coastal Research at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht.
