Antarctic Research Award for Hamburg Zoologist


Prof. Angelika Brandt, Director of the Zoological Museum of the University of Hamburg, receives the „SCAR Medal for Excellence in Polar Sciences“ today in St. Petersburg.

This award is being presented for the second time by the International Scientific Committee for Antarctic Research. Brandt receives the award for the planning and coordination of three successful expeditions to investigate the biological diversity in the deep Southern Polar Sea. The zoologist is one of 25 principal investigators who shape the research at the KlimaCampus. For the Cluster of Excellence "CliSAP" one of her responsibilities is the development of a base for climate-relevant biological data.
