Why Mentoring?

Prof. Dr. Anita Engels (CliSAP Co-Chair):

"Successful careers in science call for multiple very risky decisions - that is why I am supporting this programme. A trustful exchange with an experienced counterpart can provide valuable advice on how to better assess risks, and on questions needing to be asked. Beyond the guidance postdocs receive by their direct supervisors, here they will be equipped with an option to overtly address
an impartial counterpart on all upcoming questions regarding working and living in research and science. My own personal experience strongly supports that mentors are beneficiaries as well by being caused to reflect on their own career paths and setting priorities."

Prof. Dr. Inga Hense & Prof. Dr. Lars Kutzbach (Academic Representatives COM)

"The feedback we received for the idea of a mentoring program was strong - a great motivation for us to move forward. Our discussions with CliSAP postdocs revealed that young scientists highly appreciate an independent opinion on career-oriented aspects from a senior scientist who is not involved in the own research group."
