Regular Childcare

Childcare Voucher System (City of Hamburg)
In Hamburg, daycare places are regulated by mean of a voucher system, if you as a parent are unable to provide childcare. You receive a voucher for your child, which can be used in all participating institutions.


Childcare near the Campus
The Hamburg Studentenwerk’s five daycare facilities offer a total of 370 places for students and university employees in the vicinity of the campus. You need a City of Hamburg daycare voucher or you will have to pay for the place yourself.

Flexible Childcare

Casper Afternoon Care - Campus Playgrounds (Studierendenwerk Hamburg)
Places at the Casper Afternoon Care are available to children between the ages of 0 and 6, and can be booked for regular time blocks for each semester. It is open outside regular hours, from Mon to Fri from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and/or from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.


Emergency Childcare for Academic and Administrative Employees at Universität Hamburg
Free emergency childcare for children between the ages of 0 and 13 is available to employees of the Administration Department and academic employees.

Members of the MIN Faculty can apply for financial support from structure-enhancing measures for equal opportunity (StruMaG) funds for emergency childcare:


Die Notfallmamas

In case your normal childcare arrangements break down, you can book childcare with the 'Notfallmamas': Within 2 hours childcare will be secured through caregivers coming into your household. They are experienced mothers or professionals like nurses, paediatric nurses, nursery school teachers, childminders, teachers, social pedagogues. Costs per hour: 25€

 

UniEltern e.V. (University Parents)
The UniEltern initiative offers flexible childcare for up to 8 hours per week for children of students. This service is only available to members of the UniEltern association; no childcare voucher is needed.
